Mein Blogger-Name ist Foftain
Die Reise beginnt vor der Reise und wenn der Reisende, nach langer Fahrt, sein Ziel erreicht hat, dann wird er gewahr, dass ein noch viel grösseres Abenteuer vor ihm liegt.
Nachdem ich Jahrzehntelang zuerst mit meinen Eltern und später mit meiner jeweiligen Freundin gereist bin, habe ich 2009 entdeckt, wie gut es mir tut allein unterwegs zu sein. Während meiner erste Alleinreise verbrachte ich eine Woche in Rom, dort sah ich diese Reisegruppen von Asiaten, die mit einem Führer mit Mikrophon und Sender an der Spitze und alle mit Stöpsel im Ohr, in Gruppen die Stadt "machten" im Gleichschritt eine Gruppe um die andere.

Abgestossen davon, reifte die Idee in mir, allein in fernere Teile der Erde zu gehen, die Menschen und ihr Leben dort kennen zu lernen, mir ein Auto zu leihen und den jeweiligen Kontinent auf eigene Faust zu erkunden.
Nach ein paar Jährchen mit Umwegen und Planung, machte ich den Anfang im Juli 2013 mit der Reise in die USA und Hawaii LINK und dann im Februar 2016 nach Australien LINK.
Dieser Reiseblog befasst sich nun mit der Reise im Jahr 2018.
Ich erzähle von den Vorbereitungen über eine Zeit von 2 Jahren, von meinem Alltag und von meinen Erlebnissen, daheim in der Schweiz, von meinen kleinen Reisen zwischendurch, von meinen "UPS and downs" und vor allem von meiner Vorfreude.
Ich erzähle, wenn`s denn soweit ist, von der Reise selber, die mich mit dem Mietwagen von New York quer durch die USA nach Seattle führen wird, von dort nach Norden, mit der Fähre, entlang der kanadischen Westküste nach Alaska und mit dem Flieger wieder nach Süden zu den Pazifischen Inseln und letztlich, wieder westwärts, nach Japan.
Wenn alles so klappt wie ich es plane, wird diese Reise 4 Monate dauern und mich vom gemässigten Europa und den USA hinauf bis an den arktischen Wendekreis, hinunter zu den pazifischen Inseln und dann nach Japan und Hongkong und ein Mal um die ganze Erde bringen wird.

Ich veröffentliche, im Vorfeld der Reise ab und zu einen Artikel und während der Reise, je nach Situation und persönlicher Verfassung, alle paar Tage einen und ein paar Photos in einem parallel laufenden Photoblog. ☞ Link

My Blogger-Name is Foftain
After I traveled for decades, in the early times with my parents and later with my actual girlfriend, I discovered in 2009, how good it`s for me to travel alone.
For my first solo trip I spent a week in Rome. There I saw these groups of Asians, traveling with a leader with microphone and transmitter at the top and all with pegs in the ear, in groups they "made" the city.

Horrified of this, in the end, the idea came to me, to go to the rest of the world. To get to know the people and their lives there, to lend me a car, and to explore the continent on my own.
This travel blog now is about the journey in 2018.
I am talking about the preparations for a time of two years, my everyday life and my experiences, at home in Switzerland, my small journeys between my "UPS and downs" and about my anticipation.
I'll tell about the trip itself, which brings me by the rental car from New York across the US to Seattle, from there to the north, with the ferry of Inner Passage, along the Canadian west coast to Alaska and with the plane back south to the Pacific Islands and ultimately, back westwards, to Japan and Hong Kong.
If everything works, this trip will take 4 months and carry me from the temperate Europe and the USA up to the Arctic turning circle, down again

I publish, in the run-up of the trip, from time to time an article and, during the trip, depending on the situation and personal condition, every few days one and a few photos in a parallel running photoblog.
